Becoming a camp counselor is a challenging, rewarding and fun experience! Our counselors enjoy leading and teaching campers a variety of sports and games, making friends and creating a memorable camp experience. Since we offer a variety of camp programs, we have opportunities to focus on more than sports, with nature, art, cheer, orienteering and other great programs!

Our camps are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Day Center. This means we follow all hiring and operations guidelines that a school does. 

Qualification Requirements:

Counselors: minimum age 16 and rising high school junior.

Asst. Camp Directors: rising senior in 4-year college program working to fulfill college internship in education or sports management. Select exceptions are made for returning counselors who are at least 19 and worked at least three summers as a counselor at our camp.

Specialty Camp Directors: minimum age 20 with experience in Specialty (Art, Cheer, Eco). Degree in education or sports management preferred.

All prospects are required to complete an application and submit two letters of recommendation prior to consideration for an in-person interview.

Once hired, staff is required to:
• complete forms for State Police Crimimal/Sex Offender Background Checks
• submit copies of current CPR and First Aid Certification
• submit proof of TB screening
• attend 10 hours of paid pre-camp training
